Getting rid of visible algae can be a difficult process. These products are here to simplify your journey back to crystal clear water! Getting rid of algae can be broken down into three steps:
1: Super Shock! Chlorine-based shock will kill off most visible algae. To treat visible algae, it is recommended that you double the amount of shock normally added for a standard maintenance dose.
2: Algaecide! A copper-based algaecide (such as BioGuard Banish or BioGuard Algae Complete) will fight off any remaining algae as well as prevent it from regrowing.
3: Clarify! After algae dies, often it leaves behind small, gray particulates in the water which can leave it visibly cloudy. Adding a clarifier will help expand those particulates so they get caught by your filter and cleared out of your pool.
